Information for Indian students from Russia appearing in the Medical Council of India (MCI) Screening Test on September 27, 2009.

At the behest of several students studying in different medical universities/institutions in Russia, the Embassy of India, Moscow, took up the case of extending the deadline for submission of applications for appearing in the MCI’s Screening Test with the National Board of Examinations (NBE), in view of the expected delay in apostiling/authenticating original diplomas/degrees.

The NBE has informed that in view of difficulties being faced by students, “it has been decided that candidates shall be permitted to appear in the Screening Test on September 27, 2009 and these candidates may fill up their application forms within the stipulated deadline, i.e. July 15, 2009. However, the candidates may submit their attested copies of apostiled degree/authenticated original certificates at an early date and preferably by August 16, 2009.

  2. My son is doing MBBS Internship in Kathmandu, Nepal. It goes upto end August 2010. The original degree certificate he would get by 10th September. can the embassy help us this time ………….eager to know the response of embassy and natboard to current scenario…..plz do something better for the future doctors of india

  3. Now it is high time to unite and demand scrapping of much of regulations imposed during tainted Dr. Ketan Desai tenure. Screening test was one bought during his time to benefit directly to private medical colleges so can loot rate of seat at maximum level possible. Stop, remove or at least dilute FMGE screening test. Even NBE too is corruptive body. Remove some garbage from there. Every body knows reason for passing rate below 20% for screening test ( except march 2008 of 60%, big lot was cleared) and answers to some of following questions.
(i)Why are students not being allowed to take away question papers after the exam? (ii) Why post graduate level questions are asked in the screening test for under graduate candidates? (iii) Why questions are asked in the screening test from outside the syllabus given in the information ? (iv) Why are some questions asked on same subject leaving out other subjects?
If they really are worrying about standardized medical practice regulation then NBE can go for kind of USMLE like exam common for both Indian studied or FMG.
